Daniel 1 Questions and Answers

Daniel chapter 1 Questions and Answers Why study Daniel? Daniel gives evidence for a faith that’s not blind! Daniel provides an excellent example of how to live in a godless world. Daniel includes important prophecies of the future.

Daniel chapter 1 Questions and Answers There are parallels between Daniel and his three friends going to Babylon and today going to university. Give three important things that helped Daniel and which can be copied today to help us in staying true to God while going to university. Having Christadelphian room-mates. (V.6,16) Praying to God, morning, noon and night. (Dan. 6:10) Remaining separate from the world. (v.8,16)

Daniel chapter 1 Questions and Answers 3. What do you think of putting God to the test? (Before answering, review how Daniel put God to the test in not eating of the king’s meat.) Daniel was still under Mosaic Law even though he was in a foreign land. He would understand the principle of separation and how, in order to carry it out, he needed God's help. Daniel understood that God’s judgments came because the Israelites did not follow the law. So Daniel decided to do his best to obey God’s laws. We are not under the Mosaic Law. But God still has rules for us to follow. Choosing God’s way by not participating in the drinking, partying, sex and drugs of the other teens at school will give us healthier minds and bodies just as Daniel and his friends were healthier not eating the king’s food. The principle of separation goes beyond law, and if we do our part, God will help us to be separate so that we are in the world but not part of it.

Daniel chapter 1 Questions and Answers 4. Have you ever put God to the test and if so, what was the outcome? I have and when in God’s realm, a most positive outcome. It is important to put the problem in God’s hands and be willing to accept His out come whatever. (The key if possible is to make the difficulty not our battle but God’s.) Other Scriptural examples: David and Goliath (1Sa. 17:45-47), Jonathan and his armour bearer (1Sa.14:7-9), Gideon and the fleece (Judges 6:39,40) however we live in a different age under the New Covenant where there is no open vision.

Daniel chapter 1 Questions and Answers 5. What steps were first taken before Daniel put God to the test? Daniel took the lead. (Dan. 1:8, “purposed in his heart”. Daniel understood the Bible principle of separation from the world. Daniel being a man of prayer must have first prayed for God’s help. Daniel then separated himself from the king's meat.

Daniel chapter 1 Questions and Answers 6. Draw up a list of items (criteria) that could be used in putting God to the test in choosing a mate, or vocation. Is it in God's arena? Our mate or vocation is in God's realm. (Mal.2:14) Is our decision worthy of God’s attention? Have we first done our part? (Proper Preparation such as is our mind spiritual so that a spiritual partner would find us like-minded?) Are we prepared to follow through with the path that God opens for us, even though it may not be our choice? We then pray for God's help.

Daniel chapter 1 Questions and Answers 7. In verse 12, what is "pulse"?, also give its spiritual significance. 2235 zeroa` {zay-ro'-ah} or zera`on {zay-raw-ohn'} from 2232; TWOT - 582c; n m pl, AV - pulse 2; 2, (1) vegetables The spiritual significance is the comparison between natural food and spiritual food. Our spiritual food is the word of God. This is seen in Christ's great discourse on the bread of life. (John 6:22-59)

Daniel chapter 1 Questions and Answers 8. In verse 2, where is the land of "shinar" and what is the meaning of this name? 8152 "shin-awr", a plain in a Babylon. But as to the meaning of the name, no one is sure. GEN 11:1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. 2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. GEN 10:9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. 10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

Daniel chapter 1 Questions and Answers 9. What is the meaning of the word "Babylon"? 894 "baw-bel" from 1101 confusion and comes from when god confused the language at the tower of Babel. (Gen. 11:9)

Daniel chapter 1 Questions and Answers 10 In verse 7, Daniel and his three friends were all given Babylonian names. What Bible principle is involved in naming and do you feel this should be taken into account in naming our children? The principle involved is that of authority which is seen all the way back in Genesis when Adam named the animals and Eve. GEN 2:20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. GEN 2:23 And Adam said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” GEN 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over ...
