Keys for Successful English II & Pre-AP Students! (How to Survive Your Sophomore English Class with Ms. McKemie)

Attend Class Regularly You must be present to take the notes, receive the lecture materials, study guides, handouts, instructions, etc. Every absence requires attending 3-4 tutorials to get the make-up information!

Be on Time! If you are tardy, you miss valuable instructions! To be successful, you must be on time!

Keep Organized Orange folder: assignment sheet, essay rubric, pyramid, test scores, major essays & tests English Notebook: assignment sheet, all handouts, notes, daily work Reader’s/Writer’s Notebook: all journal entries

Attend tutorials! As a student in Ms. Mac’s class you are required to attend tutorials every week.

Take Notes! Take notes and write in your assignment sheet/academic planner every class period!

Use Cornell Notes

Pay Attention

Ask Questions

Use Time Wisely Use class time wisely to avoid taking work home

Do Your Homework No excuses!

Avoid Procrastination

Study Your Notes Every Day Review your notes daily after school, either when you get home, or at tutorials. Study first, then play.

Try to Eat Healthy Foods

Get Plenty of Sleep Teens need 8 to 9 hours of sleep at night, not in class!

Avoid drugs and alcohol Successful students stay away from drinking and drugs

Make a Commitment Successful students take responsibility & make a commitment to doing whatever it takes to stay focused on their goals!
