Motor Cart with Dolly Hoist Advisor: Ahmad Fayed Instructor: Cris Koutsougeras Team Members: John Casey, Joshua Ford ET 493 Fall 2018 (Introduce ourselves and our project name) Hello, John: I am John Casey Josh: I am Joshua Ford
Team Weightlifters Less manual lifting Less pain More efficient work done Introduce our team name and slogan (Josh speaks)
About the Project What? A cart that can be used to lift and move heavy objects. Why? To reduce injury while increasing productivity in moving objects. Who? People moving heavy equipment, safety and health organizations, etc. John discusses the purpose of project and who will benefit from this
Market Research From our analysis of the commercial market, we found designs that were: Expensive Not Compact Commercial Use Heavy John discusses what we found from our market research
Project Goals Affordable ($300 - $750) Efficient Safe and User Friendly Compact (Foldable) Can lift objects manually and mechanically. Josh will state the goals of the project (mention the $8000 motor hand cart picture)
Main Concerns for the Project Utilizing Manufacturing facilities Cost and competitive issues Have strong external funding source John discusses the main concerns of the project
Approach to Project (1/2) Search the market for available designs Pick the best 2 designs that fit our goals. Use these 2 designs as starting point Design and assemble each one in Solidworks For the next 2 slides, Josh will explain the approach to the project
Approach to Project (2/2) Use Working Model 2D to analyze motion each design Use Solidworks Simulation for FE analysis, safety, etc. Choose one design to manufacture for next semester
Desired Specifications Load capacity: 150 - 200 lbs Lifting height: 40 -50 in Full size: 30 W x 40 Lx 60 in H Weight: 40 - 70 lbs John will explain our desired specifications of the project
Lifting Mechanism Choices Hydraulic Cylinder Power Screw Belt Drive/ Chain Drive Josh will go into detail of the different lifting mechanisms
Hydraulic Cylinder Automatic Overload Protection Positioning Benefits
Power Screw Simple to design Easy to manufacture Large load carrying capacity
Belt Drive/ Chain Drive Simple and Economical Noise and Vibration are damped out
Moving Mechanism Parts DC Motor Battery Based on the load capacity (200 lb), find the required motor power & the necessary battery John will discuss the different moving mechanisms for the motor hand cart
External Sources of Funding Insurance Companies Health Organizations Others that interest in preventing human injuries John will explain the possible external funding sources
Task Organization John Build the mainframe for each design Test each design in Working Model 2D Joshua Build lifting mechanisms for each design Simulate each design in Solidworks Simulation Other tasks will be assigned weekly by Dr. Fayed. John will state his responsibilities, Josh will state his responsibilities for the task organization
Timeline Josh will go into detail concerning the timeline
Deliverables Have one fully tested design ready to be manufactured for the next semester. Simulate and test each design to ensure that they are safe, efficient, etc. Verify the load capacity each design can endure. Verify the lift height each design can lift to. John will explain the deliverables for this semester
Thank You!! Conclude presentation and ask questions
