Timeline for Program Planning Portal Open Jan 9th – Feb 1st for course input Program of Studies and Instruction for registering through Portal on http://www.cbsd.org/Page/871 Consult with current teachers and middle school counselor for course recommendations
Nuts and Bolts of Block Scheduling Four 90 Minute Blocks Homeroom is 10 minutes -between 2nd and 3rd block Most Academic classes ARE 1.0 CREDIT 1.0 credit = 18 weeks = 2 marking periods = 1 semester .5 credit = 9 weeks = 1 marking period .25 credit = 9 weeks every other day for 1 marking period
Additional Points English and Social Studies must be taken all 4 years 4 credits of English, Math and Social Studies are required to graduate 3 credits of Science are required to graduate – Biology must be taken in 10th grade Consult page 3 in the Program of Studies for all of the course requirements Some students choose to elect a study hall by selecting less than a full 32 units (32 units = 8 credits = a full schedule). One study hall in the schedule every day for one marking period = 30 units (7.5 credits) Consult with 9th grade teachers in regards to academic recommendations
