Research Process: First Steps Open Create a Google Doc/365 AND Noodle Tools Using your notes begin researching information to answer the research questions/support your claims For an argumentative essay you must determine your position related to the question. Do I agree or disagree with the question? PICK ONLY ONE SIDE. For an expository/information essay remember your purpose is to inform your audience about the topic (refer to your prompt) Finally, add an annotation in Noodle Tools. See Steps #1, #2, and #3 for directions on how to annotate.

STEP #1: read the article & summarize the article in your own words- formal diction Remember to summarize you must first read. Here are some tips to summarize. One key idea was ....................................... This is important because ............................. Another key idea ........................................ This matters because ...................................

STEP #2: How do you know the article in credible STEP #2: How do you know the article in credible??? CRAAP Test it that’s how!!! Review your article using the CRAAP TEST In your response use the language of the Rubric to depict how you know the article is credible Do not write in 1st or 2nd Person P.O.V.

STEP #3: An explanation of how this text can be used in your paper What specific information in the article will help support your position?

Now, you may begin! Refer to the example handout Start your RESEARCH Open Cobb Digital Library. Login= student number. Password = read Use the DATABASES ONLY. Good options are Galileo Advanced, Opposing Viewpoints, and Destiny Catalog (click on WebPath Express) Use various search terms to find an article that supports YOUR POSITION. Do NOT type in the entire question into the database. You will not find any articles this way! READ the article CITE the article in Noodle Tools Begin writing your annotations. APA format!!! Remember make your 3 points (summary, credibility, support/prove primary claim/thesis statement
