Essential Life Functions Transport: how organisms get what they need to cells…how they move waste from cells to organs to excretion. Excretion: how organisms get rid of waste and balance fluids (pH, water, salt, sugar) Regulation: how organisms control body processes (using hormones, nervous system)

Essential Functions Continued Respiration: Process of exchanging gases in the lungs (O2 and CO2) in cells: process that releases the chemical energy in stored food>cellular respiration Nutrition: how organisms digest and absorb food Synthesis: how organisms build necessary molecules

Essential Life Functions Reproduction: producing offsprings (sperm, egg, seeds, spores) (sexual or asexual) Growth and Development: increase in size….from egg to adult growth from seed, spore metamorphosis
