Ten Ways to Tell if You are Unrighteous Most people have trouble recognizing when they are in the wrong. Job recognized that if he had done any one of ten different things, he would by unrighteous. We would do well to put ourselves to the same test he did.
The Example of Job Job was a blameless and upright man (Job 1:1) God allowed Job to suffer at the hands of Satan. Job’s friends claimed that Job’s troubles were the result of his sins (Job 32:3) Job maintained that he was righteous (Job 27:5-6)
In Job 31, Job admits: I am unrighteous “If I have…” Been dishonest (Job 31:5-6) Followed my own way instead of the Lord’s (Job 31:7-8; Psalms 25:12; Proverbs 3:5-6) Sought impure relationships with the opposite sex (Job 31:9-12, 1; Proverbs 5:8; 6:25-26)
In Job 31, Job admits: I am unrighteous “If I have…” Not cared about the concerns of others (Job 31:13-15; Philippians 2:3-4) Been stingy or uncharitable (Job 31:16-23; Proverbs 3:27; 1 John 3:17-18) Made money my God. (Job 31:24-26, 1 Timothy 6:17; Luke 12:19, Col. 3:5)
In Job 31, Job admits: I am unrighteous “If I have…” Rejoiced over a fallen enemy (Job 31:29; Proverbs 24:17-18) Not been hospitable (Job 31:31-32; Romans 12:13) Hidden my sins (Job 31:33, Proverbs 28:13) Used land I had no right to use (Job 31:39-40)

1 John 1:7 “Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.”
