Reported Question By : Miss. Nuha Ashour Enjoy your lesson!

There are two types of questions: a) Reported Wh-questions b) Reported yes / no questions

Examples: What does my name means? He asks what his name means. Where were my family from? He asks where his family were from. “When did people start using family names?” Tina wants to know when people started using family names. When will you have time to meet me, Yasmeen? Rose wants to know when she will have time to meet her.

When you report a wh-question into reported question, you will see that: The introductory verb is ask, not said. The question word who/ how/ when is kept. The word order becomes question word  subject  main verb. The sentence ends with a full stop (.) not a question mark (?) The pronoun and time expression change in the same way as reported statement. In reported questions, do not use the auxiliary do, does, or did.
