AS-LEVEL FINE ART SECTION 10 SELF DIRECTED

LEARNING OBJECTIVES YOU WILL… Reflect upon the work you have done in the diagnostic sections of this Unit. Learn to develop your own individual ideas. Have an opportunity to incorporate new influence(s) into your work. Learn to respond to a given theme using the influences and inspiration gained in the diagnostic sections. Produce a personal, informed and meaningful response which makes connections to the work of others.

Additional artist influence Self-directed – Task 2 Additional artist influence NOW YOU HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO INCLUDE AN ADDITIONAL ARTIST INTO YOUR WORK AT THIS SECTION. You will have just 3 lessons to do your artist copy and 1 homework to do the influence page.

Self-directed – task 1 In order to generate some ideas for this Self- Directed section, get into groups of 3 or 4 and produce a focused mind map using the pro-forma provided. Together, collectively reflect upon the artists, techniques and genres that have been covered in the diagnostic section.

Self-directed – Task 3 Initial design ideas Before drawing up some initial design ideas, highlight all of the parts of the focused mind map which you intend to use in your design work and final piece. On the pro- forma provided, jot down some of your own initial ideas.

Self-directed – Task 3 Initial design ideas Then, in your small groups take it in turns to talk about the things you have selected and offer each other ideas. Once you have discussed these. Draw a minimum of 3 design idea sketches. Ensure that they are drawn well and that they are fully annotated to explain the idea and connections to artists.

Observational studies + media trials Self-directed – Task 4 Observational studies + media trials In order to further develop your design ideas, you now need to gather photographs and/or secondary imagery (if photography is not applicable). With these images, you need to do some observational studies in a variety of art materials in order to also create media trials. Ensure that you also evaluate your media trials to show your selection process.

Homework - Refined design idea Self-directed – Task 5 Homework - Refined design idea Now that you have started working on the observational studies and media trials, you should be able to draw up a new, refined design idea. This should highlight how you have decided to develop one or more of your initial design ideas and combined these with your observational studies and media trials.

Observational studies + media trials Self-directed – Task 6 Observational studies + media trials CONTINUE WORKING ON YOUR OBSERVATIONAL STUDIES AND MEDIA TRIALS FOR THE ENTIRE WEEK.

Self-directed – Task 7 Christmas Homework final design idea Over the Christmas break you need to do 2 things: Ensure that ALL of the Diagnostic Work is FULLY completed. Draw up your final design idea which should be drawn to a high standard, be annotated to explain your personal response, explicitly highlight where you have made connections to the various artists and techniques in the Unit.

Self-directed – Task 7 Christmas Homework final design idea

DEADLINE: FRIDAY 31ST JANUARY Self-directed – Task 8 Personal response You will now have 4 weeks in order to produce your final personal response. DEADLINE: FRIDAY 31ST JANUARY
