All of the seats must be fitted with an approved 3- point seat belt and a head restraint. ABS. The front seats must be equipped with front and side airbags. Electronic Stability Control (ESC). Tires must be adapted to the climate of cold weather countries (winter tires, snow tires, tire studs). Vehicles classified as « executive cars » are not impacted by this requirement. Wide-angle wing mirrors, front mirror and blind spot mirrors. Rear underrun protection device. Two-line air braking system. The superstructure of the cabin must comply with Regulation 29 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard, or Austrialian Design Rules 59. For high driving risk countries: Tractor/truck age ≤10 years; Semi-trailer/trailer age ≤ 15 years. For moderate driving risk countries: Tractor/truck age ≤ 15 years; Semi-trailer/trailer age ≤ 20 years. PRINCIPLES OF NCAP CRASH TESTS Reproduction of accident conditions and measurement of impacts to the vehicle structure and resulting damages to passengers on a vehicle series Efficiency of the energy absorption areas (passenger compartment, door, seat, hood, etc.). Efficiency of standard or optional equipment designed to reduce the number or severity of accidents. 2 to 4 different criteria taken into account by organizations:
