What do you See? By Sapna Patel

WHAT? Paradigm- “way we see, understand, and interpret the world” (1) Kids absorb what they see every day. WHAT do you see: -in a situation (ex. Driver cuts you off) -about yourself -about others WHAT effects these views: Society & Cultural Norms/Conformity Environment Personal experiences Based off role models & what is taught

WHY? WHY change what you see? -Situations/People are not always as they seem -Shifting perspective helps understand the way we can treat others -Children & adults are both shaped by their role models If you knew the situation, would you act & feel differently? If you put yourself in someone else’s shoes, would you feel the same?

How? Learn to shift your paradigm by seeing the bigger picture Apply empathy to understand the situation Assume positive intent Keep an open mind & be that role model Jimmy Kimmel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1Onniy08AY (until 0:25-0:36)(0:58-1:25) (3:54-4:00)

In Conclusion…. “If you want to make minor changes in your life, work on your behavior. But if you want to make significant, quantum breakthroughs, work on your paradigms.” -Stephen Covey Thank you!
