Introduction to hands-on exercise - accessibility ESTP Course 9th of May 2014

Accessibility to emergency hospitals The European Core Health Indicators 80: Equity of access to health care services Aim: Percentage of population within 30 min. driving time Results: Table, (maps, figure) Three GIS-data sources in our exercise: Population grid Emergency hospitals Road network Analysis tools: Network analysis (service area) Overlay operation (intersect or equivalent) Statistics (summary statistics)

Study area Oslo and Akershus

Make sure extension is activated

1. Population downloaded from www.ssb.no/geodata/

2. Emergency hospitals

3. Road network Ready made for analysis Provided by NMA/PRA If you do not have a network dataset then you must create it based on road features:

New service area

Right-click «service area» in ToC

Right-click facilities and «load locations»

«Solve» to start the analysis

Next step: Overlay Intersect Identity Spatial join Select layer by location

How to combine «service area» with population grid – knowledge gained from GEOSTAT 1B:

Summary statistics Use the «summary statistics» tool to extract statistics
