Transformational Leadership Howard Schultz Transformational Leadership

Idealized Influence Howard is able to inspire his followers in such ways that cause them to identify with him on different levels. His high standards regarding ethical and moral behavior provide Starbucks employees with a goal and vision for what the company is about. Because of his ambitions and amazing outcomes, followers are able to trust Howard as a leader.

Inspirational Motivation Howard provides his employees with optimism about the future based on his high standards and clear explanation of the meaning in their work. He also helped to create a benefits program, mission review program, and training program for the employees, which helps to motivate and develop employees. Based on this, the followers have a sense of purpose.

Intellectual Stimulation Howard supports innovations in the company as well as creativity within his followers. Starbucks is always trying to reach the next level and this is done by continually trying new things. Starbucks appreciates feedback from their employees and through this, were able to create one of most successful innovations, the Frappuccino.

Individualized Consideration In order to succeed, Howard instills the leadership style that all people are treated differently based on their skills and knowledge. He helped to develop the Working Solutions in order to provide the employees assistance with their work when required. Starbucks also has different training programs for each level of employees. Because each employee is treated as an individual, they are able to succeed. He also makes sure that there is always open communication between leader and follower and that the leader acts as a mentor.
