Multi-View Drawings Thursday, November 4th 2004 Class 10.2: Multi-view Drawings

Learning Objectives Be able to understand the three-view drawing layout to determine what lines are missing. Be able to complete the orthographic views of each object shown to include visible, hidden and center lines. Be able to complete the views using the alphabet of lines. 2

Completing the views Rather than give a complete pictorial of an object, frequently you will see problems take the form of complete the missing lines. All lines added to drawings must fall within the existing outlines of the views. Try to minimize the number of lines added to the drawing.

Visualizing the process To help you visualize this, start with a complete block the overall size of the object. Slice pieces from the block until the final object is created. The following slides demonstrate this concept.
