Professor Patrik Mehrens and Dr. Alyssa O’Brien Welcome to the Cross-Cultural Rhetoric Workshop Uppsala University, Sweden  Stanford University, USA Welcome to the third of three Video Conferences – We will begin today in small groups so students can spend as much time as possible exchanging and discussing their research projects and visual arguments. Professor Patrik Mehrens and Dr. Alyssa O’Brien December 1, 2008

Your Team’s Task Today Collaborative Team Identity Challenge: Based on what you learned about your diverse research interests, invent a new team name and design a visual argument or logo for yourselves as a group of rhetoric scholars (you can use the whiteboard, the photo feature, draw, or cut and paste images). Next, find a target audience who would be interested in your work as a team. Finally, prepare to present your new team identity (ethos) and the rationale for your name (logos) to the rest of the groups in a persuasive and memorable way (pathos)! PLEASE keep to time, and begin this activity at 10:05 am or 7:05 pm. At quarter past, all teams will reconnect here and share their work A few technical notes: -When saving your work at the end of the collaborative activity, export as JPG, email to Alyssa/ Chris Alfano - If you have any technical difficulties, just ask one of us! Exchange of Research Project Ideas and Presentation of Visual Arguments – 5 minutes each person Answer rhetorical analysis questions on research, on DOXA and on the visual argument/presentation Design a Team Name, Logo/visual argument, Audience Present your team ethos (name/design) with logos (rationale) and pathos (feeling)
