Presentation transcript:

THE GREAT PRAYER EXPERIMENT During May, a season of new beginnings and hope, we are using God’s creation to help us pray for other people, places and situations A Prayer Walk is about praying for ourselves and others.(Intercessions) It combines a pilgrimage with intercessions. Pilgrimage is a journey to a sacred place. It can be physical or imaginative using visual aids. It can be in nature or around our own communities. As we walk we pray for God’s love to be in the places we pass or places which need to know God’s love. We express our care for others just by physically taking time to be there praying. We can feel overwhelmed and confused at how much there is to pray for and find it hard to know what is needed or to put it into words. Just let God know that we want to pray for a certain person, place or situation and let Him do the rest. Walking is a prayer. Just the act of commitment to a walk shows your prayer for others. Think about the things you would like to pray for. Let prayer just flow through us without worrying about words. Pray out loud if you would like to or pray quietly as you walk Focus on God – just let Him surround you Maybe ask God to bless each person that you meet Use a prayer which you repeat and say each syllable in rhythm to your footsteps – “God please bless this place” or “Jesus light of the world be with us all” Use all your senses – see, listen, touch and smell God’s creation everywhere around you Give thanks to God for His unfailing love PRAYER WALK Why not visit a local garden ? You can ask for details of a local guided walk at web@cofe-northallerton.org.uk
