Type 1 pedicle marrow signal intensity changes and associated soft tissue hyperintensity on T2- and STIR-weighted sequences associated with pars fractures of L2 in a 14-year-old female adolescent. Type 1 pedicle marrow signal intensity changes and associated soft tissue hyperintensity on T2- and STIR-weighted sequences associated with pars fractures of L2 in a 14-year-old female adolescent. Right parasagittal T1, T2, and STIR images from May 18, 2006, and November 21, 2006. On the initial study, type 1 pedicle marrow signal intensity changes are noted within the L2 pedicle and superior articular facet (long arrow). The signal intensity also is increased within the soft tissue adjacent to the L2 superior facet (short arrow) on the STIR-weighted sequences. On the follow-up study, the marrow changes have converted from type 1 to type 2 (long arrow), and the soft tissue changes have resolved (short arrow). The patient was improved clinically. B.
