MID-TERM CLASS REVIEW PROBLEMS

Some items to remember: Use the class calculators, only. You can have Definitions, Formulas, and Identities on your card. (Specifics on the last slide.) You MUST turn in your Mid-Term Review BEFORE the test, show work for every problem, and -NEVER after you turn the test in. -NEVER later that day. -NEVER the next day, or any after that! -NO extra paper.

I. Simplify:

II. Given one root, use Synthetic Division to solve for all roots: -2 1 2 -6 -12 -2 12 1 -6 This leaves x2 – 6 = 0. There are two ways to find the next roots.

III. Solve and check for extraneous solutions (it has an odd root, so there are no domain restrictions.) Check for – 41 : ü
