FDR’s First Inaugural Address Roosevelt claims “restoration lies in the extent to which we apply social values more noble than mere monetary profit.” What does he mean by social values? What social values does he reference throughout the speech? What is Roosevelt saying about the anticipation of fear versus the actual confronting of fear? What is the overall mood of the speech? What emotions does Roosevelt want to stir in his audience? Refer to examples from the text where he successfully achieves his intentions.
