ISSUES SURROUNDING DIGITAL ACCESS …….and ways to solve the issues around digital access

ISSUES SURROUNDING DIGITAL ACCESS Given the prompt transformation in computer hardware power ,and the initiation of new technologies, entry to data and information is crucial. Thought entrance is not universal as it is not just about entry as means but also about expertise .Issues of entry is mainly known as digital divide.

DIGITAL DIVIDE ON SOCIAL CAPITAL The impact of digital divide to social capital is that some individuals are unable to enter social networks this happens when some individuals resist transformation to get access to technology and not being exposed to the use of technology this mostly happens to places that are rural where people don’t have the funds to have access to technology making it difficult to compete in the digital world

DIGITAL DIVIDE ON KNOWLEDGE CAPITAL AND HUMAN CAPITAL Knowledge capital and human capital are known as intellectual capital of which represents useful ideas ways ,processes and other talents that belong to a organization. Human capital is all the skills ,knowledge and experience by an individual. As technology develops ,skills relating to digital literacies need to mature too . Areas that do not have entry to the internet are not allowing to educate themselves on how to use different types of technology , resulting to the lack of development . www.digitalresponsibility.org

WAYS TO ASSIST GOVERNMENT TO SOLVE THE ISSUE AROUND ACCESS Government can raise awareness by providing workshops ,talks and facilities in order to help those without digital access Government can encourage and educate people with the usage of ICT ,and development of the ICT skills Government could also start funding areas with out access by working hand in hand with NGO’s and private companies to sponsor technological equipment/resources such as computers and network points so that people will be able to compete with the digital world By Rethabile Michelle Mokhobo
