FUTURE COOPERTION AND FUNDING

BACKGROUND 2012 stove camp Creation of an information exchange platform and coordination of players in cleaner cooking sector and enable knowledge sharing among stakeholders including an extensive publicity and education campaign for increased adoption of cleaner cookstoves Initially funded by Irish aid and now EnDev Plans to make it self sustaining through member subscriptions and various services e.g research work etc

Currently Continued the work on cookstoves database

MEDIA AND ADVOCACY Feeding into various policy documents Assisting the NCSC on various areas e.g assisting in organising cc and Open Day, making presentations at various fora on the work NCSC is doing, Populating the website with up to date information on cookstove activities (as far as possible) Monthly newsletter via email, Facebook, instagram, twitter, presence to maintain a link with all our stakeholders HELP YOU OUR STAKEHOLDERS ACHIEVE YOUR TARGETS

Challenges According to 2014-2017 Roadmap document and experience Consumer awareness is low Industry guidelines were non-existent Production and distribution networks were not inter-connected National policies were inadequate

Solutions Consumer awareness is low Technology neutral cleaner cooking awareness campaign entitled “Ndapeza mbambande” to reach all the districts (funds permitting) and work closely with partners to complement their efforts NCSC through UP & MBAULA formulated coursework for primary school students. The course content is almost complete and will be filtered through after schools clubs Industry guidelines were non-existent Decided on 20% thermal efficiency as the basic stove to be accepted and counted towards the 2million by 2020 goal Since 2013 at CCC we have standardized the chitetezo mbaula Production and distribution networks were not inter-connected National policies were inadequate Currently new National energy policy, National Charcoal strategy, Malawi renewable energy strategy, etc

Production and distribution networks were not inter-connected MBAULA network has a database of most production groups in the country Aims to provide linkages for production groups to existing markets Regular messages will be sent to production groups to update them on demand in the market and their responses will be forwarded to implementers within the impact areas Producers are also free to flash or text and advise how many market ready stoves are available on the MBAULA hotline Should the production groups require retraining etc MBAULA will also link them to implementation partners to facilitated the process this will motivate them to The connection of these groups to markets coupled with awareness campaign will facilitate us all to reach our target as demand and supply will be close to equilibrium

Partnership is key we all have the same aim and can only achieve it if we work as a team Happy selling
