Our Shared Vision The Cities of Joondalup and Wanneroo are committed to ensuring that people at-risk of or experiencing homelessness have the optimum opportunity to improve their circumstances. The purpose of the plan is to articulate publicly the collaborative commitment of preventing and responding to end homelessness in the region. NAT Previously Rangers approach was to move people on but that wasn’t working Stats – qualitative data

Building community capacity, understanding Pillar One: Building community capacity, understanding and engagement NAT Goal – Stakeholders communicate and collaborate effectively with clear purpose to end homelessness Two key examples under this pillar Supporting and continuing the JWEHG Data

Prevention and Early Intervention Pillar Two: Prevention and Early Intervention JULIE Goal – People have a strong sense of wellbeing and are capable of recognising triggers that lead to homelessness enabling them to take action early 2 Examples Promoting community understanding and awareness Supporting community initiatives like Act belong commit that encourage connected communities

Responding to Homelessness Pillar Three: Responding to Homelessness NAT People sleeping rough have their basic needs met and ultimately are transitioned into appropriate support services Review how the Cities respond to reports Providing information support and referrals

Joondalup Wanneroo Ending Homelessness Group - JWEHG A shared vision to end homelessness The group meets every 6 weeks Representatives from government, community groups, faith based organisations and service providers. Current lead agency is Red Cross Purpose to share information, work collaboratively, integrate services. JULIE Initiated by State government in 2011 Open to all community stakeholders that have interest in responding and preventing homelessness Meetings average 15 people Key driver in the homelessness space delivering on actions in the plan

Implementation Each City has developed its unique implementation plan Some actions will have a collaborated approach, others will be unique to each local government NAT Real work starts now Customer facing roles – The plan is encouraging people to be treated with respect and dignity and to be understanding that libraries sometimes become that base for those without real homes No barriers Advocate to the group to support customers that identify as homeless
