NASFAA is an acronym…Recognized both inside and outside of DC Known for its advocacy work Ethical standards Diversity Leadership training Strong support for access & affordability for our students!

NASFAA Staff and their continuous advocacy…. Delicate political handling of an issue our profession is facing Regular meetings with FSA staff Building the FSA/NASFAA relationship and those with other FA constituents Leads to effective change or policy updates such as… 390 code issue during most recent Government shutdown Language around accepting tax returns in light of the IRS retrieval issues Conversations with staffers as they look to drop a bill

Last10 months….convened 12 work groups or task forces Why? to focus on important topics in our profession to carry out board approved initiatives that align with the NASFAA mission to improve services to our members

NASFAA’s Diversity Toolkit Along the lines of NASFAA Diversity Efforts… Created a toolkit. The toolkit contains resources on topics including: Why do diversity and inclusion matter? Setting appropriate diversity goals for your membership Researching the diversity of your membership/leadership Ensuring a diverse leadership pipeline Securing speakers and resources related to diversity efforts Creating an effective diversity mentorship program Outreach and communications efforts Resources for counseling diverse student populations

As financial aid professionals we must uphold and support one another and continue to position our profession in a place where we continually garner the respect of our constituents. NASFAA has developed the Certified Financial Aid Administrator (CFAA) Created with all accreditation standards in mind! Allows us to outwardly demonstrate the level of knowledge required to perform the critical work we do CFAAs will help define the future of our profession Participants will validate their knowledge in core competencies through continuing education. This outward demonstration will assist in protecting the integrity of the Federal aid programs and will recognize the contributions we make to the success of our students, colleagues and institutions.
