Figure 1 Developmental exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) induces genetic/epigenetic abnormalities in myometrial stem cells, which lead to uterine fibroid (UF) development. Environmental factors including EDCs induce genetic/epigenetic alterations, thereby leading to the conversion of myometrial stem cells into tumor initiating cells, eventually giving rise to the formation of UFs.
