Shadows

Key Terms Dimmer – A device that controls the intensity of light by throttling the electric current flowing to the lamp. Directional Light- Light that illuminates a relatively small area with a distinct light beam. Fill Light – Additional light on the opposite side of the camera from the key light to illuminate the shadow areas and thereby reduce falloff. Key Light - Principle source of illumination. Barndoors - Controls the direction of lighting.

Key Terms Color Temperature- Relative Reddishness or bluishness of white light, as measured on the Kelvin scale. White Balance - The adjustments of color circuits in the camera. Kelvin - The standard scale for measuring color temperature, or the relative reddishness or bluishness of white light. Lighting Plot - A plan, similar to a floor plan, that shows the type, size (wattage), and location of lighting instruments. Lighting Intensity- The amount of light falling on an object that is seen by the lens.

Lights Lowell Omni Light- Lowell Pro Light- Fluorescent Bank- Soft Light (Flood Light)- Ellipsoidal Light-

Key Terms Reflected Light - Light that has bounced off the illuminated object. To measure reflected light, point the light meter close to the object from the direction of the camera.
