The Leaves November 2016 __________________ PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE by Phil Sims Another year at Forest Gardens is rapidly coming to a close, as is my term as Social Club president. We were able to accomplish several significant items, including changing some of the rules regarding annual elections. We now have our election results in October so there is a smooth transition to the next elected board members. The extra time prior to actually taking office is used for incoming board members to familiarize themselves with their new positions. The term of each new board member is now in effect from January 1st through December 31st. We had fantastic support from our neighborhood representatives. They delivered The Leaves, greeted new residents, chaired the International Night event, and much more. Great job, all of you. In addition, we kept the ticket prices on Social Club events as low as possible. These things never happen because of just one person. This year was no exception. We had a very capable board. Linda Gailmor was 1st vice president and my proverbial “right hand.” Denise Burgess, 2nd vice-president, spent countless hours managing the kitchen and her overall input was greatly appreciated throughout the year. Secretary Ellie Cantrell had never had this position before, but she was up to the task almost immediately. Treasurer Don Graeler was our rock. He held us accountable for every penny, as he should have. A very special thank you to Griff Hill who organized the neighborhood reps and gave invaluable input to me and the rest of the board. We drew often from his previous years of experience. Most of all, I want to thank all of you, the residents, for making this a very successful year. We are in good hands with Pat Haley at the helm for 2017. She is very talented and dedicated to the community. Let’s get behind her and make 2017 an outstanding year! Thanks, Phil The Leaves November 2016 __________________ Saturday November 5 2016 9:00 am to 4:00 pm ______________________ Thursday November 24 2016 _________________________ “The Leaves”: For corrections, additions or deletions, please contact the Editors: Donna at 949-380-1228 or Pat at 949-254-3318 or by email at: leafydonna@yahoo.com or rphaley@earthlink.net

Also, thank you to each resident for your great support of these events. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with all of you. We enjoyed a special film presentation by Lieutenant Colonel Chris Collins, retired Blue Angel Pilot. The event was well attended (124) and fun for everyone. The drawing for the beautiful dollhouse made by Donna Durrett, and donated by Donna and Layne, was won by Joy Luettchau. Thanks to Randy Notko for his tireless promotion of ticket sales for the dollhouse raffle.
