Summer Training Option for Rural Medicine STORM Class of Summer 2015 Summer Training Option for Rural Medicine STORM Course Director: Michael Kennedy, MD Course Senior Coordinator: Neesa Montoya Course Administrative Assistant: Lisa Mena

Course Description Course began in 1992 – this is the 27th year! Patients - Designed to provide students with early career exposure to the care of patients. Summer - Offered to students between their first and second years of medical school by the Department of Family Medicine. Experience - Students will learn clinical medicine with a community physician in primary care. Rural - Students will collect data about key aspects of primary care practice in rural Kansas.

Stipend - $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ This elective includes a stipend that is funded by: Dane G Hansen Foundation H.L. Baker Trust of LaCrosse, Kansas Kansas Academy of Family Physicians Sutton Family Endowment Fund KUMC School of Medicine The stipend will include A base scholarship payment of $1200 or $2400 Additional $400 payment bonus provided to students who thoroughly complete all aspects of the program’s research activities.

Summary Information 2 hours of elective credit (4 weeks) Stipend $1,200.00 plus $400 bonus for work completion 4 hours of elective credit (8 weeks) $2,400.00 plus $400 bonus for work completion Make all arrangements through the rural office Opportunity to be part of the writing and presenting team
