Text evidence- Clean water helps to prevent people from getting sick. With not having to fetch water, people are free to go to school and pursue their dreams.

Some of the words and phrases used to create this mood are, “this dark hour was the start of her day.” “She dragged herself out of bed-” The beginning of Natalia’s day is described as a “dark hour” and dragging herself out of bed gives us the feeling that it’s difficult for her to get up so early in the morning. It makes the reader feel sad that this is how her day begins.

Personification is the poetic device used in the statement, “Pipes can carry water down from nearby mountains.” As a reader we know this to be true because pipes can’t “carry water” as a person would. It gives the impression that the pipes are carrying the water down the mountain, as a person might carry water.
