Ecological Succession
What is Succession A gradual development of a community over time.
Types of Succession Primary succession is when a community starts to grow in an area where there are no other organisms.
Primary Succession This starts with lichens. Lichens are a set of organisms that have a symbiotic relationship. They are usually a set of fungus and bacteria living together.
Next… Then when there is enough soil, mosses replace the lichens. Followed by ferns, grasses shrubs and finally trees.
Secondary Succession Is where an existing community is destroyed by a disaster.
