A message from the Editors Forest Gardens Social Club of “The Leaves” For the last several years, I, have been the Co- Editor of “The Leaves” along with Co-Editor Donna Chaput – what a good partner! Although it requires a real commitment, as well as a variety of responsibilities to produce a newsletter, including monthly deadlines to the printer, the reps and to you, the readers, it has been a fun and enjoyable experience for me. Working with Donna made it a lot easier for sure. I’ve had the opportunity to meet and speak with many of you, and appreciate the help and information I’ve received as Donna and I worked the Forest Gardens’ beat reporting on news and events for the month’s edition. Effective January, 2017, Marion Renner will be the Editor of the Leaves. She comes to this role with a lot of experience, having been the Editor in the past for several years. I know Marion will do a great job as she always does, and we appreciate her willingness to take on this role again. Donna will continue on with her work on “The Leaves” with Marion. Marion can be reached by phone at: 949-587-9777 or by email at: mimirenner@sbcglobal.net Best wishes for happy holiday season and 2017…. Barbara King and her crew of Halloween goblins did a great job turning the clubhouse into a scary, spooky ballroom for the residents and guests who attended the annual Halloween party, October 29th. A big “thank you” to all the volunteers who worked so hard to make this Halloween party one to remember. The food was anything but goolish with a tasty spaghetti dinner with all the trimmings. The Halloween costumes were the best! There were so many funny, scary, creative and cute ones, it was hard to pick which one was the best. But, finally Linda and Gary Gailmor were awarded the couples costume award with their rendition of a “Mobster and his moll” decked out in typical gangster and moll attire—black suit, purple tie, slinky gown, feathers, and all! Yvonne Barrago took the prize for top costume as a Doug Houston and his music had the party goers showing off their costumes as well as their dance moves to round out an evening of great fun and enjoyment for all. THANK YOU, BARBARA AND THE CREW OF VOLUNTEERS FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK. HOLIDAY BOUTIQUE FANFARE First, let me say many thank to all the vendors who spent weeks, days & hours preparing for this event. We have so many talented men & women. All the Forest Gardens residents would like to say how much they loved your arts & crafts.  Secondly, a big THANK YOU to Gary & Linda Gailmor who headed up our Snack Bar and served those delicious hot dogs & all the volunteers who worked in the kitchen & served those hot dogs in a timely manner. Thirdly, a huge THANK YOU to Marlene Tingley & Donna King for their great job contacting all of our Forest Gardens Top Chefs to donate all those yummy. homemade goodies and making our card room the sweetest ever. Last, but certainly not least, are all the elves who volunteered their time to oversee the raffle table, which by the way, was covered with more than 50 raffle gifts, donated by the vendors. A thanks to the volunteers who sold food tickets, the soda sellers, the people who set up additional tables, and our #1 Elf, Ed Steward, who served the vendors food & drink when needed. But that tray of cupcakes & cookies looked pretty good too. Thanks, of course, to all those who helped with the clean-up. SO AGAIN, THANKS TO ALL AND TO ALL A HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON.
