The 2017 ACA and What Lies Ahead

ACA The 2017 ACA and What Lies Ahead Burden and liability placed on employers. Increased penalties. Continuous tracking of measurement periods continues to be burdensome. It continues to be hard to get accurate information from employees. Additional codes and guidelines. Inconsistent IRS Error Notifications and no clear information provided. Uncertainty about the future of the ACA in 2017.

The 2017 ACA and What Lies Ahead

The 2017 ACA and What Lies Ahead

The 2017 ACA and What Lies Ahead Neither Trump’s nor other Republican bills to replace the ACA have passed the house. Legally, there is no way to stop the ACA all at once. Some aspects of the law could be undermined by not enforcing, and possibly eliminating, the individual mandate. Subsidies to lower income people could be reduced while Medicaid could be expanded in reach with less coverage. The employer mandate is harder to change because of how the law is structured.

The 2017 ACA and What Lies Ahead Subsidies to insurance companies may stop, forcing them to leave certain markets. Millions that would lose coverage could cause approval ratings to lower and support from the house to implement an ACA alternative can dwindle. Because there has been no progress the administration is focusing on other issues such as Immigration and Tax Reform.

(possibly until the end of 2018) The 2017 ACA and What Lies Ahead THE ACA IS HERE TO STAY (possibly until the end of 2018)

What Lies Ahead… The 2017 ACA and What Lies Ahead No actual changes in the ACA. Employers should continue to comply in 2017. Employee Mandate may not be enforced, but there is no indication that the Employer Mandate will stop being enforced. New Guidelines and updates are expected from the IRS. Uncertainty about how the IRS handles the data and produces its error notifications does not allow to guarantee that the data submitted will match what the IRS has in its databases. Employers must take special care in reporting accurate: Company Information. Employee census data. Employment and Coverage information.
