Fire/Carbon/Dust Workshop Report Fire Emissions Joint Forum Meeting July 11-12, 2006
Fire/Carbon/Dust Workshop Objectives Review planning- and policy-relevant information about these emissions Assess modeling and data analysis results Discuss planning tools and policies from FEJF and DEJF Additional information on fire and dust emissions’ analysis and management programs by individual states

Fire/Carbon/Dust Workshop Outcomes In terms of regional haze planning: Fire impacts on modeling results are large Fire episodes have a noticeable impact on monitoring data, including clogging sampler operation Changes in fire emissions are observed in the modeling results when comparing results from multiple model runs; Dust emissions are not well-handled by the regional air quality model, so dust impacts will not be estimated with model results Alternative methods to assess the visibility improvements from dust controls will be used
