Solution-Processed Inorganic Semiconductors for Thin-Film Photovoltaics Dmitri V. Talapin, Department of Chemistry, University of Chicago Chalcogenidometallate Zintl ions can be used as the robust and electronically transparent surface ligands for various colloidal nanostructures. The unique advantage of these ligands is the possibility to convert them into amorphous or crystalline metal chalcogenide phases, thus linking individual nano-building blocks into a macroscopic assembly of electronically coupled functional modules We explore novel functional materials that combine inorganic nanocrystals with metal chalcogenide complexes. These nanocrystals can self-assemble into complex multicomponent superlattices M. V. Kovalenko, M. Scheele, D. V. Talapin Science 2009, 324, 1417.
