Inquiry-based learning Step 1 Discovery learning Builds upon what the children already know The teacher can find out what the children already know by ASKING QUESTIONS. Record what they know by making a concept map.

Inquiry-based learning Step 2 Find out what the children WANT to know. The children can ask questions about the topic. On a large sheet of paper, make a list of all their questions.

Inquiry-based learning Step 3 The teacher makes a list of what the children NEED to know. The teacher guides the children in finding out what they need to know.

Discovery learning The children work in groups, pairs or individually Examples of activities: Experimenting Problem solving Constructing Weighing and measuring Drawing conclusions and recording results

Ways of recording results Graphs Charts Posters Drawings Concept maps Writing
