SAFETY MEETINGS AND WORK HABITS

SAFETY MEETINGS Will Rogers said there are three kinds of men: the ones that learn by reading, The few that learn by observation, The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence to find out for themselves!!

SAFETY MEETINGS WHY DO YOU COME TO SAFETY MEETINGS? New procedures New tools Training on government regs

SAFETY MEETINGS How about a review of safety rules and why these rules should be followed.

SAFETY MEETINGS What do you get from the accident and near miss discussions? Most often a safety rule violation contributed to the accident.

SAFETY MEETINGS What is the definition of insanity?

SAFETY MEETINGS What was the last big near miss here? What changed? DID YOU WORK ANY DIFFERENTLY?

SAFETY MEETINGS If YOU decide to make a change it WILL effect others!

WORK HABITS What has to happen for anything to become a habit?

WORK HABITS Have you ever drove somewhere and not remembered the drive? The force of habit took over to keep you safe and you didn’t have to make each driving decision.

WORK HABITS How many of these accidents and near misses would never have happened if good WORK HABITS would have: checked the voltage put on grounds put on the gloves applied cover up

WORK HABITS What's the difference between a safety rule and a safety suggestion?

WORK HABITS RULES REQUIRE A CERTAIN RESPONSE BUT WE CAN PICK AND CHOOSE SUGGESTIONS

WORK HABITS What's the most important piece of safety gear? Rubber gloves Grounds Volt meter Cover up

WORK HABITS ITS YOUR MIND OR ATITUDE! Are the Rules that keep you safe habits or suggestions? We must be careful not to make suggestions out of the rules!

WORK HABITS Ask yourself if your work habits would have kept you safe in these accident/near miss scenarios. The Safety Rules only have to prevent a contact ONE TIME IN YOUR CAREER!!
