We Are Sponsoring … Amy Gabriela's Story Amy Gabriela lives with her mother and has no brothers or sisters. Her mother is a vendor and struggles to provide for the family. Despite her efforts, it is difficult to meet the family's needs. Amy Gabriela is growing up in a poor, primarily urban community in Colombia. Rice, potatoes, and cassava are typical of the local diet. World Vision recently expanded its efforts in Colombia to help families in some communities recover from a devastating earthquake. Homes here are made with a variety of materials, including brick, clay, waste materials, and tin sheets. The soil is volcanic and the temperatures are mild. Amy Gabriela is not in school at this time. She likes to play with dolls. She helps at home by putting toys away. She is in satisfactory health. Our sponsorship commitment will help provide Amy Gabriela and her community with child rights education to help protect children from abuse. Our faithful support will also provide training for parents in disease prevention, hygiene, and nutrition, and teach them about the importance of keeping their children in school.
