WHS Training at ANU RSC Info Session Deanne Drummond, RSC School Manager Torsten Schwich, RSC WHS Manager 15 May 2019

Background (why are we doing this?) Aim of this Session Background (why are we doing this?) Who is required to undertake what training? What is RSC’s approach? How do I get access to the training? Where do I find relevant information? Who can I contact for advice? What can be expected over the next 12 months? Opportunities to provide feedback

ANU Training modules Tier 2 training (legislated) Background ANU Training modules Tier 2 training (legislated) ANU Policies and Procedures Local best practice Compliance with Acts, Regulations, Codes of Practice, Standards etc. Coordinated by WEG/Development Awareness (pain points, hot spots) Turn someone into an expert through a number of 3-hour theory training modules

Who Is Required To Undertake What Training Rule of thumb: If training module is available and it’s relevant to work you perform or supervise, then training requirement applies. Scenario: Worker handles ether in fume cupboard and the solvent ignites. Regulator comes in to investigate. First questions: “Where is the risk assessment, and has the mandated training been undertaken?”
