Figure The absorption spectrum of white light form a patients without and adenomatous polyps (red) and a different patients within 30 cm (but not on top of) an adenomatous polyp. This demonstrates significantly more absorption (lower signal intensity) of light, primarly by hemoglobin, in the region of a polyp suggesting a “field” effect of increased vascularity.
