Creating unique technologies for complex water treatment from Сollaboration of universities for the conservation of the marine ecosystems Creating unique technologies for complex water treatment from oil products

Problem Negative impact of oil spills on the marine ecosystems has increased; Crude oil and refined fuel spills from tanker ships accidents have damage dvulnerable ecosystems in Alaska, the Gulf of Mexico, the Galapagos Islands, France, the Sundarbans, Ogoniland, and many other places.

Environmental effects The environmental consequences of oil spills are difficult to take into account, since oil pollution disturbs many natural processes and relationships, significantly changes the living conditions of all species of living organisms and accumulates in biomass;  The impact of oil spills on invertebrates can last from a week to 10 years; From such accidents, not only the animal and plant world suffers, serious losses are borne by fishermen and the regional economy as a whole.

Suggestions for collaboration Studying the influence of oil and petroleum products on hydrobionts, restoration of aquatic ecosystems; Creation of unique technologies for complex water treatment from oil and petroleum products based on scientific researches and practical results of the participants; Developing educational courses to train specialists in water environment protection from oil pollution.

Experience of Tomsk state university Biological institute of TSU has been carrying out applied research in complex treatment of water bodies (bottom sediments and water) from oil and oil products for more than 15 years and is a leader in this area in Russia Our scientific development - AEROSHCHUP is a unique technology for assessment and mapping of oil-contaminated bottom sediments based on the principle of flotation Over 150 tons of oil was lifted from the bottom of one of the lakes (area of 6 hectares) in Komi Republic using the technologies developed by our team
