(Cii) The total number of eggs laid averaged over 6 days by fmn flies is significantly lower than that of fmn-bg flies (Student’s two-tailed t-test). Dcaf flies of the fmn-bg genotype (N=14) laid a significantly lower number of eggs as compared with its controls (N=14), whereas Ncaf flies of the fmn-bg genotype (N=16) laid a significantly lower number of eggs as compared with both control and Dcaf flies (***P<0.001). Control (N=15), Dcaf (N=17) and Ncaf (N=17) flies of the fmn genotype laid a similar number of eggs (two-way ANOVA with genotype and treatment as fixed factors followed by post hoc Tukey's HSD test).
