QUESTION OF THE DAY How can the outside world affect you inside your heart or head like a friend does?

Last week, we studied the prefixes un-, re-, mis- and dis-.

Let’s Review Prefixes un means not or the opposite of re means again mis means dis means

What’s the prefix in the word… unwilling reassign misspell disagree

Let’s use the base word and prefix to figure out what each word means unwilling not willing reassign assign again misspell spelled incorrectly disagree not in agreement

Let’s use the base word and prefix to figure out what each word means. unable reread misunderstand distrusted unexplored restated misjudge disinterested unwanted rewrote mistreat disbelief

Read these sentences. Can you think of another sentence using the underlined word? We had to stop and rethink our plan. Mom was displeased about my messy room. Our new puppy misbehaves if we don’t watch her all the time. The accident seemed unavoidable.

Group Time! Let’s Read… "dear stars," pages 352–353

Fluency Partner Reading You and your partner practice reading aloud p. 346, three times. You should read with appropriate phrasing and you will offer each other feedback.

Many animals prowls on the edje of the forest at night. The two trees shadows hide the mouses and foxes.

STANDARDIZED TEST PREP Be sure a form of be in a sentence agrees with the subject. Use is or was to agree with singular nouns. Use are or were to agree with plural nouns. Example: The moon is bright tonight. The stars are shining.

Classwork/Homework Grammar and Writing Practice Book p. 51.

Writing Day 4 EDITING/REVISING CHECKLIST Are my ideas in a logical order? Do I describe the experience so that it engages my reader? Do action verbs help make each detail vivid? Do verbs agree with their subjects? Are words with the consonant sounds /j/ and /k/ spelled correctly?

Conventions Use a greeting addressed to the person receiving the letter: Dear Sam. Don't forget the comma. Use I throughout to describe a personal experience. Use a closing such as Yours truly or Your friend, followed by a comma. Check for correct capitalization in friendly letters.

Great Job!!
