From Ivy Chin Per Engineering Progression policy, students are allowed to get 3 attempts to earn C or better grades in MATH 181, MATH 182, MATH 283, PHYS 180, 180L, and PHYS 181. We will start warning and enforcing this policy beginning this Summer/Fall registration period. Below are some scenarios the advisors would like to know if exceptions can be granted: If a student (prior to 2014 catalog) has been able to delay MATH 283 or PHYS 181, but has taken at least 6 credits of upper division major classes, we should allow him/her to continue. They should not subject to 3 attempts at those classes. Advisors’ rationale: They have made a vested effort and over half way done. Transfer credits, withdrawals, audits are included in the 3 attempts. Do they get one more attempt, especially for new transfer student? What if they show improvement with each attempt (F—D—C-)?  A student on pre-engineering progression took a self-imposed break after not going well? They will automatically be on the new catalog. This means engineering profession policy will now apply to them. What about students who change major from engineering then decide to return? These students will likely to be on the new catalog too. Additionally, we would also like to get your feedback on the following classes: Core Curriculum classes such as English, Core Humanities Other C or better classes in the major (i.e. Math 285, Statics, all required CS classes for CSE majors) Other lower-division major classes (no C or better requirement) Upper-division major classes

C01 CS 105, CPE 301, CS302, CS365, ENGR301 Are these still the courses in CSE that “Develop” C01? Else what changes have been made Syllabi for current C01 “Develops” courses
