Dentate Status 1 Dentate both arches The patient has at least one natural tooth in both the maxilla and the mandible. 2 Dentate upper arch only The respondent has at least one natural tooth in the (upper arch) maxilla. 3 Dentate lower arch only: The respondent has at least one natural tooth in the (lower arch) mandible. 4 Edentulous with one or more implants The respondent has no natural tooth in either the maxilla (upper arch) or the mandible (lower arch), and has one or more implants. 5 Edentulous The respondent has no natural tooth in either the maxilla (upper arch) or the mandible (lower arch), and has no implants.
