Faculty who teach Salem-based courses commit to:   Offering the course At least twice in the next three years At the Chemeketa Community College Downtown Salem Center In the evening or on a Saturday As a hybrid course Collaborating with WOU’s academic technology experts to design the course, including online elements Other faculty (through a PLC) to learn about and address the needs of working adult learners, and to enhance coherence among the constellation of courses. Including in the course Substantive connections to at least one of the Liberal Studies themes (e.g., the Human Condition, Global Citizenship) An assignment where students reflect on your the in their Liberal Studies academic journal Participating faculty receive a $1000 stipend each time they offer the course for participating in these activities.

INVESTMENT IN SALEM PROGRAMS DELIVERS Programming that serves a new population of students Incentives for faculty and programs to contribute to flexible degree programs and delivery Hybrid courses designed to meet the needs of adult learners 4 classes per evening, 2 evenings a week in 2018-19 A programmatic foundation to build on Faculty engagement in developing skills and approaches to support adult learners Course work that enables completion of four different WOU undergraduate degrees using flexible delivery
