What is required of me outside of lessons? As well as lessons on your timetable, you will have prep times As a performing arts department, we ask that you use these hours in department and sign in, in the music office. You will not be able to complete your coursework outside of this room, so therefore you will need to be in here wherever you can. Outside of lessons I will be setting you tasks that you can complete each cycle. The majority of these will be learning how best to use Cubase, and adding to your coursework. The more you do to experiment with Cubase out of lessons, the better your work will be The more work you do one your coursework outside of lessons, the more feedback I can give you to ensure that your mark is the best it can be. Doing this also builds up your resilience. A lot of the course is independent work, so you will need to be able to problem solve whilst I am working with other students.

Sample Work Play the work I have loaded up – I will leave this loaded on the computer – labelled.

Summer Work Research effects listed in booklet These are the main effects that you will use throughout your course so it is really important that you understand these early on. Page 3 – Choose 3 films, 3 games, 3 animations (cartoons/animated films) and 3 adverts to look at the music from Think about Dynamics, Rhythm/Tempo, Structure, Melody, Instrumentation, Texture and Effects you think were used. (Help for these is on page 5) Use the ‘help me out’ section on page 6 to write down anything you’re not sure of as well as any questions that you think of. This way I can tailor my lessons to help you, as I don’t know everything that you don’t know

What do we know about cartoon’s and the sound/music within them? Today Today you are going to have a go at creating some music and sound for a short clip. Let’s watch this now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xb8jTvSwJbw What do we know about cartoon’s and the sound/music within them? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xb8jTvSwJbw

Today Use today to have a go at Cubase. You will all be at different stages so have a go and I will come round to help you. Use the video and create some music/sounds to go with it. There is no right or wrong. This is what you will be doing with Unit 3 (the first unit) so it’s good to see what you can already do  You can find this here: Pupil_work\Intake 07\Music Technology Taster Session Please then create a folder with your name on it. Create a copy of the Cubase file and paste it into your folder. You are then good to go!
