The Instrumental Team Mr. Varn – High School Band and Orchestra Director Mrs. Varn – High School Band, Middle School, and Intermediate Band Director Mr. Wolf– High School Band, Middle School Band, and Intermediate Band Director.

Program Summary The Beginning Band Camp Program meets the needs of students and parents. There are Eight Lessons spanning four weeks. All lessons are free of charge and meet at Hoover High School.

Opportunities and Benefits Research shows that there is a significant benefit to students involved in the band program. Make new friends and learn how to play an instrument.

Obtaining an Instrument You may obtain an instrument any place you wish. We do recommend using a top quality instrument. Sometimes family-owned instruments are in need of repair, making playing the instrument very difficult. There are several music companies are in the area. Pellegrino’s Music Center is here tonight.

What Instruments Can The Students Play? Flute Clarinet Alto Saxophone Trumpet Trombone Snare Drum/Bell Kit

Which Instrument is Easiest? All instruments are easy when you learn how to play it. All have different difficulties. The instrument best for you is the instrument you will practice daily.

Goals & Objectives Teach you how to produce the basic sound on each instrument. Help you decide if the instrument is suitable for you.

Pellegrino Music Center Mr. Cliff Long

Requirements Obtain an Instrument Obtain the Standard of Excellence Book 1 (Red) - Recommend the Enhanced Book. Sign-Up for your appropriate class

Frequently Asked Questions Are Private Lessons Required? NO, but they are encouraged. Can the student participate in Sports, the String Program, Choir, or other activities? ABSOLUTELY YES. We are going to be on vacation during part of the program, is this ok? Of course, just let us know that you are still with us. The first week is the most crucial NOT to miss.

Class Meeting Times 3-6 June 3-6 Aug 12-15

When School Starts You will meet twice in the morning before school and you will meet in your music rotation in a small class setting. If you live more than 1 mile away from the middle school, you may be transported to the middle school (during the middle school route run), then ride to your intermediate building for band. If you think you may use this, you will need to complete the survey on the next slide. You can’t ADD this in the fall.

Survey https://forms.gle/eYiEHYY8YyVXKSu69 Copy the following link to complete the survey if you would like transportation to NCMS, then to the Intermediate Building on your band day. https://forms.gle/eYiEHYY8YyVXKSu69
