THE 7TH EAHSC Implementation of IQ Care System in CCC increases viral load report generation: IQCare versus C-PAD system By Lily N. Njoroge (Bsc HR&IM); Njogu M. The Palladium Group; Centre for health Solutions; Nyahururu County Hospital

Outline Introduction Objective Methodology Results Conclusions Recommendations and Way Forward Acknowledgement

Cont….. Abbreviations CCC: Comprehensive Care Centre C-PAD: Comprehensive Patient Application Database EA: East Africa IQCare: International Quality Care NCRH: Nyahururu County Referral Hospital VL: Viral Load

Introduction A study in NCRH C-PAD had been in use since 2007 Facility had challenges in decision making IQCare system was implimented in November 2017 The study is to determine the impact of the new system on viral load update

Objective To assess the effectiveness of IQCare system in viral load(vl) results uptake and decision making. Record one year data on viral load update Compare pre and post-implementation data Determine effectiveness of the new system in decision making Identify possible solutions based on the findings

Methodology A one-year retrospactive study Assesed effectiveness of the program Six months pre and post-integration of IQCare was recorded and compared In months of May to October 2017, 3866 results were updated in C-PAD In months of December 2017 to May 2018, 11185 results were updated in IQCare system November data was excluded due to migration

Cont….

Results and Discussion Before IQCare system there were 38% vl results in C-PAD There was a drastic increase after implementation of IQCare from 3866 to 11185 By may 2018, 93% of active patients had their results in the system 55% increment was recorded in viral load update since implementation The remaining 7% were the newly active patients who were not eligible for viral load test

Conclusions Unlike IQCare, C-PAD could not generate summary of patients without vl results With IQCare, this great improvement is attributed to: Ease at which one identifies patients without results Timely appropriate measures for example contacting those due Ability to follow up and ensure all patients have their results

Cont…… Challenges Viral load suppression is at 79% Delayed high viral load patients contact by two weeks

Recommendation and Way Forward Conduct more studies to establish how system can help achieve 3rd 90 (Viral suppression) by year 2020 through: Integration of IQCare system and KEMRI Lab system for real-time results update IQCare alert to healthcare worker on patient with viral load concerns Pop-up message alerts to patient due or with high vl

Acknowledgement Great appreciation goes to: Tanzania Government EA Health Research Commission The palladium group Centre for health solutions Organization Ministry of Health (Kenya) Nyahururu County and Referral Hospital
