Who is the audience and what is the area trying to communicate to that audience? any website user

Who is the audience? Addicts looking for meeting Addicts looking for events Addicts looking for information Members of the public looking for information Your ideas?

What is the purpose of an NA website? A mechanism to facilitate carrying the message of NA to the addict that still suffers. A source of information for addicts and members of the public. A resource for our members. Not a social media page! What is relevant information for the site? Your ideas?

BMLT Basic Meeting List Tool Creates a database of NA meetings for use in a website http://bmlt.magshare.net/

BMLT

Why a website? Our primary purpose: To help carry the message to the addict who still suffers To help addicts get to meetings! Your ideas?

How it Works All service originates from and is accountable to the groups of NA. The real venue for carrying the NA message is the NA meeting. Your ideas?

The Traditions Spiritual Motives “How will a suffering addict see the front page?” Who owns the site? What other websites are connected to yours? Your ideas?

What committees can consider When we create a new web page, with our spiritual motives and principles aligned with out Higher Power’s will we can think “How will a suffering addict see this page?” and "How does this page help carry the message of N.A.?“ Your ideas?

Considerations We should already be doing this with every act of service we give to NA. Anything posted on a web site is permanent and should be created with the proper spiritual mindset.

Considerations The owners of any NA website are the same as the owners of an NA helpline: the groups to which the service structure is directly accountable. An NA service website is created by a properly elected or appointed service committee. If one person has control of creating the site, then don’t do the site. Make sure that the groups always have complete and final control of the site.

Considerations It is a good idea to do a top-quality site. NA is a top-quality organization, represent the website as such. Top-quality does not mean flash navigation, fancy layout or animation. If we cannot do a proper fancy website then stick to the basics.

Considerations Access levels: members vs public Commitment and resources (human, financial) Point of accountability

Considerations Most books on web design cover using the web to make money. We do it for completely different reasons. “Half of the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don’t mean to do harm; But the harm does not interest them.” -T.S. Eliot

Responsibilities: Web servants Keep meetings up to date! Post information relevant to the members we serve Respond to emails Remain accountable to the groups we serve

Responsibilities: Service Bodies Keep meetings up to date! Keep informed about the website.

Protecting artwork "Whenever an N.A. group, service board, or committee has an artist create original artwork, drawings, designs, or screens using any N.A. trademark, the N.A. body should always be sure the artist signs a document releasing to the N.A. body his or her rights to the artwork, including the original rendering. By doing so, we ensure that neither the N.A. logos nor any artwork that has been created for the benefit of the fellowship can later be used to benefit a private individual or an outside business enterprise."
