How You Will Be Scored: Fluency (8 points): Grammar (5 points) Speak naturally and smoothly without much hesitation. Use a greeting to open the conversation and transition to the main topic. Use lots of follow-up questions. Use a farewell. Grammar (5 points) Use the grammar forms studied in class consistently and accurately. Vocabulary (5 points) Use vocabulary studied in class to add detail to your conversation. Use verb phrases correctly. Pronunciation (6 points) Speak clearly and in a way that’s easy to understand. Use some intonation to give expression to your conversation. Confidence (6 points) Speak at a good volume, and maintain good eye contact. Help your partner if they have trouble. Ask for clarification if you don’t understand something.

Conversation Starters Use conversation starters to begin the conversation in a natural way. Then transition to your main topic. Examples: Q: Hi, how are you? how’s it going? (= How are you feeling?)
