Time Clauses I’ll give her a ring when I get home. Two clauses: 1- main clause: I’ll give her a ring 2- Secondary clause: when I get home Secondary clause starts with conjunctions of time : When while as soon as after before until Verb in the secondary clause: It refers to future but we use present tense.
Will Form: Will + infinitive (without to) I will eat dinner. Positive & Negative: I will eat dinner. I won’t eat dinner. Questions: Will you help me? (short answer) When will you help me? (Wh question)
Will Uses: 1- To express a future decision made at the moment of speaking. e.g. I will give you my phone number. I will take the red, thank you. 2- To express an offer. e.g. I will carry your bag I will do the washing-up. 3- To express future fact. The action is sure happen in the future. e.g. Tomorrow's weather will be worm. Saudi Arabia will win the cup.
First Conditional Positive & Negative Form: If + Present Simple, will + infinitive without to. If I work hard , I will (I’ll) pass my exams. We don’t hurry up , we will not (won’t) be late.
First Conditional Question Form: Wh question word + will Subject verb infinitive + If+ Subject Present Simple object? What Will You do if You pass exams? Where She go She can’t find job?
First Conditional Short Answer Form: 1-Will Subject verb infinitive object + If+ Subject Present Simple object? 2-If+ Subject Present Simple object +, Will Subject verb infinitive object? Will You go to the party if You pass the exam? Yes, I will. If You pass the exam ,will You go to the party? No, I won’t.
First Conditional Use: Express a possible condition & a probable result in the future. Possible condition Probable result in the future. If I work hard , I will (I’ll) pass my exams. If we don’t hurry up , we will not (won’t) be late. Use present tense Use future tense
If & when: First Conditional If When Express a possibility that something will happen. Express that the speaker sees as certain to happen. If I find my book, I’ll give it to you. When I get home, I’ll have a bath.
